Kinderlaken was created from a simple but powerful idea:
children deserve joyful, engaging care, and parents deserve to feel confident and supported when they need a helping hand.
Our purpose is to provide meaningful, high-quality childcare experiences for families visiting or living in one of the most beautiful regions of the world. While parents explore Switzerland, enjoy the mountains, or attend to daily responsibilities, children are safe, happy, and actively engaged in age-appropriate adventures.
Whether you need regular childcare, short-term support during your stay, or a well-deserved night out, Kinderlaken offers professional, reliable care you can trust.

At Kinderlaken, everything we do is guided by 3 core principles:
Safety and reliability – Your child’s wellbeing always comes first.
Learning through new experiences – Play, discovery, and curiosity are at the heart of every day.
Small, memorable adventures – Carefully planned activities suited to each child’s age, interests, and abilities
The idea for Kinderlaken grew from conversations with parents who shared how challenging it can be to find trustworthy, qualified childcare in the region. Kinderlaken exists to make that easier by offering families peace of mind and children a place where they feel valued, understood, and excited to return

Kinderlaken is founded and led by Katie Craft, a Special Education Teacher with over 15 years of experience working with children and families in international school settings across Switzerland.
Originally from the United States, Katie moved to Switzerland in 2014, first working as an au pair in St. Gallen (Switzerland), Erfurt (Germany), Bath (UK), and Verbier (Switzerland). During these years, she completed her higher education and developed strong language skills, including French, Swiss German, High German, and Spanish.
Katie holds:
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
Master’s in Education
Certifications in Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia
She has worked primarily in learning support roles within international schools in the Montreux and Bern regions, and has also led summer camps, ski trips, and outdoor activity programs, as well as coaching youth soccer teams.
In addition to Kinderlaken, Katie is the owner of Edelweiss Tutorial Services, providing individualized academic support for students with diverse learning needs.
What sets Katie’s approach apart is her belief that every child has unique strengths, and that strong, trusting relationships with families are essential to helping children thrive; both emotionally and academically.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys reading, skiing, snowboarding, cycling, hiking, and soccer.
